The Process

Families who express interest in the rigorous full-year academic program at Morningside Academy will initially have a conversation with our Director of Admissions, Martha Staff. We will talk about your child’s current performance in school and answer your questions. We typically follow with a tour of the school and visit to a classroom. Parents and guardians are asked to share relevant reports and records.

A student visit for a half day is scheduled at a later date  that consists of a snapshot assessment, a morning of classes, recess and lunch. Like all students currently attending our school, your child would participate and receive a Daily Support Card. The Director of Admissions ends this visit with a brief meeting with you and your child. Once our administrators and teachers have had a chance to discuss your child’s participation, the Director of Admissions will schedule a second parent appointment to discuss enrollment. The second appointment usually takes place within one week of the student’s visit.

There is no formal application packet required prior to admissions. Should a suitable opening become available, students may be admitted during the current school year. An applicant must be well suited to the structure, frequent feedback, and positive support offered at our school in order to be offered enrollment. We have an open enrollment process throughout the year should openings occur.

Students entering the fall program will be asked to attend a minimum of two weeks of the summer program. In addition, deposits for the fall program will be collected at the time of enrollment in order to reserve a spot. If you would like to visit, please contact Martha Staff, Director of Admissions.
