Unique
Morningside programs are competency-based, with proven results for both learners and teachers. We take an applied science approach and look for effective, research-based instructional materials, methods and tools. We user-test what we find, seeking quantitative evidence of their effectiveness in increasing student achievement.
Successful
Our admissions process is carefully structured to ensure that Morningside Academy is the best fit for your child. Prior to Morningside, many students have experienced some sort of failure in school. From both public and private school backgrounds, the students who come to Morningside thrive on Robert Mager’s, “Nothing teaches like success.”
Lifelong
Personal growth in social interactions and self-awareness are developed in two courses: a psychology class and a reasoning skills class . Students learn to persist, break problems into parts, celebrate their own accomplishments and those of others. These repertoires become part of who they are and stay with them as lifelong learners.
Personalized
Morningside Academy’s nationally acclaimed and highly successful Foundations Program and Middle school Program provide instruction tailored to meet each student’s needs, enabling them to catch up, build up, and get ahead. We continuously assess progress in academic skills, learning skills, and organizational skills. Most students stay for 2-3 years and then transition to a school of their choice.
Morningside Academy helps both elementary and middle school students to catch up and get ahead. Our students have not previously reached their potential. Many have learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, or ADD/ADHD. All have average to well above average intelligence. Morningside is not a school for children with significant emotional problems, behavioral problems, or developmental delays.
We support our community’s children through research-based teaching methods and personalized curriculum placement. The science of reading guides our teaching and learning throughout the day.
When I found Morningside I couldn’t believe how it seemed like the puzzle piece that was missing. My son has been at Morningside for 5 months and I have seen him blossom into a confident reader and thinker. He has confidence that I have never seen before.
Our child had a tremendous year academically at Morningside. He had amazing progress and he felt very proud of what he accomplished.
We at Morningside Academy acknowledge that we are on the traditional land of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish People past and present, and we honor with gratitude the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe.
