Professionals

Tuition:

• Weeks 1-2 = $2800
• Weeks 1-3 = $3800

Steps to enroll:

1. Complete the Professionals Registration Form.
2. Pay a $1000 initial deposit.
3. Get ready for an amazing experience!

Graduate Students

Several seats are reserved for masters and doctoral students. Scholarships that cover tuition and lodging are awarded to students who devote the majority of their time to graduate studies, and who make little to no income except graduate program stipends.

Proportional scholarships are available to graduate students working full-time.

Steps to apply for enrollment:

1. Complete the application form (Coming soon!) by April 16, 2027. You’ll need to include a CV, Statement of Purpose, and at least one Letter of Recommendation from a university faculty member.
2. Scholarship decisions will be made in May.
3. Pay the $300 materials fee and any proportional tuition.
4. Get ready for an amazing experience!

University Faculty

Discounted tuition of $2800 for Weeks 1-3 is available to professors teaching or interested in teaching principles of behavioral education to their students. Professors often attend along with their students who’ve received graduate scholarships.

What you’ll learn

Weeks 1-2: July 12-23, 2027

8:30-12:15: Skills Practice & Classroom Practicum

• Practice newly learned skills in simulated environments with coaching from MSI trainers.
• Apply those skills in our Summer School classrooms with coaching from Morningside Academy teachers and MSI trainers.

1:00-5:30: Daily Workshops & Training

• Introduction to Behavioral Education and Instructional Design.
• Initial instruction to accuracy with direct and explicit instruction.
• Practice to fluency with celeration, focusing on Precision Teaching.
• Selecting the best reading, math, and writing curricula.

Week 3: July 26-30, 2027

Completion of Weeks 1-2 is required to attend Week 3. Those who completed Weeks 1-2 in previous summers are encouraged to return for Week 3!

8:30-12:15: Classroom Practicum and Implementation Design

• Continue applying newly learned skills in Summer School classrooms
• Design a plan for implementing MMGI with your student population, with feedback and guidance from MSI trainers.

1:00-5:30: Daily Workshops & Training

• Simple Generative Responding: MMGI’s six ingredients for promoting real-world application of the facts, concepts, principles, skills and strategies that the teacher directly taught.
• Designing for Complex Generative Responding: Instructional Design principles for engineering new learning.
• Teaching Complex Generative Repertoires: Reflective Thinking and MMGI’s well-known reasoning strategy: Think Aloud Problem Solving.

Where to stay in Seattle

Morningside Academy is located in in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle, WA. There are hotels in the neighborhood and in the adjacent downtown and South Lake Union neighborhoods. Short-term rental options are widely available as well.

Morningside is fortunate to be able to provide affordable lodging at Seattle University dormitories – just a 15 minute walk away! A limited number of reservations are available and will be given on a first come, first serve basis. A number of rooms are reserved for graduate students applying for Summer Institute scholarships. If interested, please indicate on your Summer Institute application.

• 2026 Seattle University Housing Rates:
  • Single room – $68.16 per night
  • Shared room (double) – $47.56 per night
• Each dorm reservation requires a breakfast meal plan. This plan is Monday-Friday only and is $14.32/day (including tax), which is:
  • $143.20 for 2-week participants
  • $214.80 for 3-week participants.
• All rooms come equipped with a sink, cabinets, mirror, desk(s), and compact microwave/ refrigerator combo.
• Rooms DO NOT HAVE air conditioning. While summer in Seattle is comparatively mild, rooms can be hot. Fans are provided by SU, as are air conditioned spaces on campus.
• Bathrooms and showers are shared, located in the hallways of the dorm floor. Each floor has a men’s bathroom and women’s bathroom.
• Linens are provided and include: pillow, pillowcase, sheets, blanket, towels, washcloths. Linens are washed weekly or upon request.
• Each floor has a shared kitchen and lounge.
• There is a laundry room on site.
• Check in/check out:
  • Check into the dorms on July 11th
  • 2-week participants check out on July 25th
  • 3-week participants check out on August 1st
